Stevenage Borough Council Win For St Nicholas
You will recall that a month or so ago we were invited as a school to take part in an art / writing competition with Stevenage Borough Council. This was to produce art work to be displayed on the old Twin Foxes site on Rockingham Way whilst the new housing is built. Yesterday we received the following letter:
Apologies that it’s taken a while to come back to you regarding the children’s competition entries. We had great fun looking through them with our Executive Member - Housing, Health and Older People Cllr Jeannette Thomas (as you can see from the attached photo). There are obviously some very talented artists and wordsmiths amongst them. Cllr Thomas asked me to pass on her thanks to you for encouraging the children to join in and all the effort they have obviously made.
In the next couple of months the contractor Westhouse will be arranging for the winning entry and the two runners up submissions to be enlarged and displayed on the hoarding. After the General Election purdah period we would like to hold some sort of publicity event to mark this and I’ll be in touch with more details nearer the time. I’m also hoping that we may be able to display some of the shortlisted entries in the reception here at Daneshill House, but I need my colleagues in the Communications team to confirm that this is ok as it’s recently been refurbished and I believe we’re awaiting new display boards!
Once again, many thanks for your involvement and I will be in touch again once I have more details on the above. I have attached the winning submission and two runners up.
Winner – Mabel Martin, age 9, year 4
Runner up no. 1 – Rosie Stevens, age 5, reception
Runner up no. 2 –Trinity Flinch (not sure of the spelling?), age 7, year 2
